Common questions

Why does the app ask for my location?

Location powers optional features: suggesting nearby stations, centering the map, and — during an active trip you start — advancing turn-by-turn guidance and the Lock Screen Live Activity as you move. Location is never required to plan routes or browse arrivals, and trip tracking stops the moment you end a trip.

Why don’t arrival times match the platform countdown clocks?

Arrivals come from the MTA’s public real-time feeds, the same data behind the countdown clocks. Brief differences can appear when a train’s position updates or service changes mid-ride.

How does the fare cap tracker work?

Fare tracking is optional and stays on your device. You can log taps manually, with a Shortcut, or by linking Apple Card. The weekly cap follows OMNY’s 7-day fare-capping window — you can set your cap week’s start date under the MetroCard tab if it ever drifts from OMNY’s.

Where is my data stored?
